Riveted Pond Cover

Customer request

Customer asked for a pond cover for their back garden. They requested that it be sturdy enough that a person could stand on it, but that it be an interesting pattern in addition to a grid layout.

Materials and construction

The piece is made from mild steel, 12mm round bar cross members, and a 16mm round bar ring. Constructed by riveting and weaving the cross members together, and then bending the legs around the diameter of the bar. The legs have tapered spike for installing in the ground. Due to the weaving nature of the cross members, the cover is sturdy enough that a person can stand on it without risk of falling through.
